Our Family

The founding familyIn an old church, in 1968…

Parkway Campers was founded by Bill and Hazel McAlister. Named for the church that had once occupied the building, Bill began selling new and used campers in addition to their other business, manufactured homes. In the next few years, the McAlisters developed more of a passion for the camper business and slowly phazed out the manufactured homes.

After 10 years, the business needed more space and relocated to a hill, located adjacent to the intersection of US 123 and 28. Greg Nimmons, son in law, joined the family and the business in the 70s becoming an expert in sourcing parts and accessories. Parkway Campers developed a reputation for quality service. Grandchildren Chip and Corey Nimmons worked, er played as children growing up in business.

With business growing and the town of Seneca growing around it, the location became to small and restrictive. A rural location was selected near Westminster, on Senic Highway 11. Although we’re sure he’s still with us, Bill McAlister passed in 2011. Parkway Campers is still operated by the Nimmons and McAlister family. Today we have new campers from Starcraft RV and Surveyor and R-Pod from the Forest River company
